Take Action Progress

Being the rebellious, stubborn type of person that I am, I sought to find an organization that was not on the list provided to us and while covering a story I bumped into Jeff from Good Justice.  After finding out more about the organization, I became determined to do my work with them.

Good Justice is an organization that works to provide clean wells and education (particularly) for girls in impoverished countries.  Their latest trip was to Honduras where they dug a well and worked with the community to encourage school attendance.  On other trips they have also helped to build school buildings as well.  My greatest concern when working with this organization is that it is a deeply Christian group and I am not in anyway Christian.  I was concerned that the trips had more of a missionary goal but after discussing the trips with the President, I've come to realize that while some of their trips consist of missionary work, not all of them do.  The main goal is to, "help girls reach their creative potential because educating a girl can change a town," according to Jeff.

I have yet to work with the organization because our schedules have continually conflicted, but I am slotted to complete my required four hours by the end of this week and am quite looking forward to it.

  1. This sounds like a great place to complete the service for the class! I am often wary of committing to service through faith-based places too, but often religious organizations do great work that's very important.
