Take Action

For the Take Action Project I am volunteering time at the Shelter of Flint and so far I have not spent any length of time helping but I have been in contact with Petra and Meg the 1st and 2nd shift managers about setting-up a time to spend with the kids. I have stopped in at the shelter three times so far to submit the required paperwork and introduce myself to build a relationship with the staff so they know I am serious about volunteered my time.  I have also been in contact with a group of classmates who are also volunteering at the shelter; Desiree, Celia, Denaro, Jordan, and Amanda. We have plans to meet at the shelter Friday evening, (Dec.6) for Family Fun Night. Our plan is to set up a station for the kids to make Christmas cards for their parents. I have collect donations from my family to put towards colorful construction paper, glue sticks, markers, crayons, stickers etc. I am looking forward to helping the kids, I hope the cards they make will brighten their holiday season and their parents as well, even if it is just a little bit. I am keeping the Dot story in mind.

  1. I am glad you're still thinking about The Dot! :) It sounds like your Family Night was a hit--I love that you solicited donations from your family for supplies. From reading the posts from your group, the kids seemed like they loved it
