I did my
volunteer at North End Soup Kitchen on Monday. It is an organization that
offers free food to people who are homeless or have disability. I was helping
for 3 and a half hour, because they started to prepare for dinner from 1:30 to
4, and then they offered food from 4 to 5. So, I need to do another one to
complete my 4 hours.
We just made sandwiches
because there were not enough volunteers. I started with cutting vegetables.
The cook asked me to cut peppers and celery into little pieces, and then we
made 200 sandwiches. It was not hard for me to cut, because I usually cooked at
home. However, it was my first time to make sandwiches. It gave me an
experience of making sandwiches. I had to be honest that I felt tired when I
was making sandwiches, because I had to stand for a couple of hours and did the
same thing for at least a hundred times. After all sandwiches were ready, we
set those at a table and waited for people to come in. We needed to run out to
give food to people sometimes if they had disability to walk. I had a good
experience of helping people and making sandwiches during these 3 and a half
hour.
Your hard work was definitely appreciated! I know that it's not always very glamorous, but your service was so necessary!
