differently. I've always been the kind of person that knows exactly when I'm not okay and need help. I find that to be healthy, and I don't think anyone should be afraid to ask for help when they really need it. As a future teacher, Im realizing more and more everyday how some student I have will be afraid to ask for help when they need it. Some will want to just give up and never live to their full potential just because of their negative thinking, lack of encouragement, and lack of the support that they need to help them think positive. All it takes to encourage someone to do something is to help them believe that they really can do it, as soon as someone truly believes they can do something than they will be able to no matter what stands in their way. As a current tutor, I see this daily with my students. I have this particular student who believes in his mind that he can't do anything successful like all of the other students. He believes that there's no point in trying because he's eventually going to drop out and do nothing with his life. I tell this student everyday that his thinking isn't right, but talking to him is not enough to encourage him. One day I made him a short quiz, and made him take it. He got every question on the test right, and was very pleased with himself. Soon I started making him take all the tests and quizzes that his teachers had assigned, only he thought they were the ones I made for him( which he thought I made easy for him). He would always get a high grade on every quiz and test. At the end of the year I told him that they weren't my quizzes and tests, they were his teachers. From that point on he realized that he really can do it, he just needed the extra attention and encouragement to prove to himself that he really can do it. I think this goes true for everyone of all ages. Everyone is capable of achieving anything they set their mind to despite any disadvantages, it just takes a little change in mindset and encouragement to get there sometimes!
