"The Dot" in the classroom

There are endless possibilities when it comes to reading "The Dot" in the classroom. I think it would be a great book to use to kick off the school year on a positive note and remind students that they are capable of achieving great things if they simply try. Actually I could see myself using this book to help create a classroom theme that revolved around "making your mark". For example each student could make their own mark on a class bulletin board, have dot name tags, etc. This would be a great theme to revert back to throughout the school year when we began tackling subject matter that was more challenging.
